my heart and soul.

When I am this completely overwhelmed  busy, I really need good food for my soul to keep me going.  For me, that is taking pictures of my baby girl … spur of the moment, let’s throw on an outfit and go somewhere fresh and fun.  This is what happens …

Just follow the progression.  She’s turing two in December … need I say more??

Ties that Bind

I love this family! If you want to be around laid back, fun, genuine, and just plain ‘ol good hearted folks, you’ve got to spend an afternoon, or even just 10 minutes with the Shabays.  They are the kind of family that makes you feel welcome instantly and you leave wondering if you are in fact a distant relative or something.  In fact, I WILL be a distant relative of the Shabay family in the not so distant future (sort of :) )  My cousin (and best friend) is marrying their nephew/cousin (hi Matt and Kels!) lol.  Is that related? Maybe it would be fist cousin twice removed in-law or something.  (totally kidding)  Those that know me, know what I am a BIG dork when it comes to family relations.  Don’t ask me why, it just fascinates me!  In fact, there will be no “official” relation, but I like the idea of being related to you Paul, so we are officially first cousin once removed in laws.  I like it.

Anyway, before I lose you (oops) here are my favorites from their session.  P.D. and Sandra have the most beautiful backyard, so that is what we decided to use as our backdrop.  They spend lots and lots of time here all together, so its just fitting.

Here is my favorite from the day!  Can’t you tell how close they are!  I love this … sometimes I dont see these deep connections with siblings let alone cousins.  I  really desire for Mia Grace to have cousins to grow up with like I did.  Seeing this photo makes me really wish I had one just like it of the fab five (you know who you are!)  They will really cherish this when they are older.

And, here it is in BW.  Couldn’t decide.

Paul and Sydney
The proud grandparents!
A moment away from the kids (Wendy can I please be like you when I grow up :) ) Isn’t she just gorgeous?! And she is just as beautiful on the inside (no lie!)The whole gang (supporting their team of course!)
I didn’t catch exactly who these hats belong too … but they are special nonetheless. I thought this one called for a vintage touch. Thanks again for allowing me to photograph you family!  It truly was an honor.

I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

The Preskenis Family.

Meet The Preskenis Family.  This session was SO much fun.  I know I say that every time, but really, I just love my job.  Tracy is a friend through Mike’s family and I was so excited when she agreed to my new location I wanted to try.  It’s complete with lots of land, tons of antique farm equipment, a big red barn, and an old green farmhouse … hello?!  Here are my favorites from their session (there are lots :) )  Little Wesley is a more serious guy like my little one and Reeve is the smiliest happy baby I have been around!  They were both such dolls.  Thank you guys for allowing me to take your family photos.  Hope you like the sneak peek!

This one is my favorite I think.  Complete with drool and all. It looks great in color too.

skater boy and his guitar.

A 10 year old boy. skateboard. guitar.  Need i say more?  This session was a photographers dream (or my dream anyway).  Don’t get me wrong, I love photographing families, but its a super nice change of pace to get to focus on one subject.  A subject that actually listens and takes direction, doesn’t throw temper tantrums, doesn’t need a diaper change … man, I died and went to heaven :) It also seems like with boys, that moms stop getting their picture taken between the ages of 5 and 17 (just in time for senior pictures).  I would encourage all parents to get photographs of their little men to document this wonderful age.

Riley is one passionate little dude.  He’s into skateboards and guitars and I’m so glad he brought them along.  I really strive for photos to reflect the people in them, and this is a great way to use “props” without it looking cheesy.  Riley, it was great to hang out with you.  I think you rocked it man!  And momma … sorry for your wait ;)  Enjoy.

So, what do you think?  His first album cover maybe?

I think he looks about 17 here.

Riley also entertained me with his sweet tricks!  Seriously, I had so much fun watching him get after it.

Welcome to the new blog!

Our old blog has been driving me crazy for a while now!  The colors were always way off and the pictures were so small and blurry looking.  Well … say good bye to blogspot (actually I’m keeping it active under links if you want to see it, but you get my point) and say hello to Love, Me’s sweet new spot on the web!!  Now I can get excited about blogging!

I have been busier than ever (as a matter of fact, I was told today at bible study that I have been using the word “overwhelmed” quite a bit lately!) I thought that was just hilarious.  I used it to describe how I felt about God’s as Redeemer, but apparently I used it in a prayer request last week as well (or maybe it was just my overall look?!!).  So … in case you were wondering what’s happening with me, you can assume I am OVERWHELMED until further notice!

Anyway, I have lots and lots to share.  But, I thought I’d start you off with a little session I did with Miss Mia Grace a while ago.  I’ve been wanting to share these for a while, so I figured she would be a great blog opener.  She is 21 months now and just amazes me.  She truly is the miracle of my life!

This is her look.  Serious. Intense.  Like she’s taking the whole world in.

She would NOT leave her baby and blankie in the car.  And yes, she did this all on her own.  My mom was with us, and between Mia Grace laying down on the concrete outside to put her baby nite nite and me following along (notice the angle of this shot) I think my mom was a little embarrassed.
and my absolute favorite! The one that will make me really happy for a long time. Messy hair, chapped lips, piercing eyes. So my little woman.
