Reid [dfw newborn photographer]

It’s official … I have baby fever!  How could I not?  Look how handsome this little guy is.  I was so excited when Holly called wanting pictures of her new little guy.  I had all these grand plans, but Reid had a different agenda :)   After several hours he officially won the fight so I had to improvise.  I must say, I think little Reid knew what he was doing the whole time :)   I love what he gave us!

Enjoy.

blog1His coloring reminds me SO much of Mia Grace when she was born, which adds to the wanting a little boy!!reid_0157bw_1Who can resist little baby yawns.  I can’t ;)   reid_0171bw_1reid_0209bw_1I love this next shot.  Holly and Ben prayed so much for this little guy and he came at the perfect time … God’s time.reid_0235bw_1Holly wanted some family pictures too.  Family photos are pretty difficult with a newborn because they are so darn tiny, but since families are kind of my niche, I really wanted to try something different.  I love the mirror on their bed so we went with it.  I’m all about natural looking family shots.  Look at those faces … do they scream “proud parent” or what?reid_0132_1

This next one is so different from my normal stuff, so it called for a unique crop and unique processing.  It’s actually a favorite image now. I love when images tell a story … from new mommy guiding new daddy through holding someone so teeny tiny to the bible over there in the corner.  love.reid_0107vintage_1reid_0036_1reid_0260c_1This image just had a vintage feel to me, so again, I tried some new things.  You have to let me know your thoughts?  I still love vibrant color, but these sweet images just really needed something unique and special.  I must admit I dont have tons of newborn experience, so I’m finding my niche with these shoots.  I really love the natural environment type images as I get to be more invloved in the shoot and all my normal wacky angles.  Have I mentioned lately how much I love my job? :) reid_0250vintage_1Ben and Holly, thank you so very much for letting me into your home for SO long and trusting me with your precious little boy.  He is so so so beautiful.  I must have said that a million times.  Seriously, what an amazing testament to the faithfulness of God and how humbled and honored  I am to be a part of such a magnificent journey. It was such a pleasure meeting you!  I hope these teasers hold you over.

black and white kind of day. [ dfw child photographer ]

Here are the crazy Fowler boys!  Said affectionately … they are family!  I just happened to love all these images in black and white.  Who says I can’t make an entire post bw?  Well, I just did. Christine, these are LONG overdo.  Would you believe this was my LAST session to catch up on from before the holidays??  Um, huge lesson learned this year about how many sessions to take.

John, Christopher, and Talon … love you guys.  Sorry we didn’t ride dirt bikes and climb on tractors this time.  We’ll ride horses next time :)

Meet John.

I got my way. [dfw engagment photographer]

I strongly hinted in my last post of these two, that I really wanted to do another “real” engagement shoot.  Well, I got my way ;) !  As I often do I suppose.  I love these pictures SO much more.  They are natural and so them.  We decided to head out to the lake to do something different and I’m so glad we did.  It was a really cloudy and windy evening with thunderstorms rolling in, but we all took a chance and I love the results. I love these two so very much.  They are such amazing friends to Mike and I and we can’t wait to see them get married in 25 DAYS!

Oh, and in case you don’t recognize my cousin, Kelsie, I told you she had the curliest hair EVER.  I guess she took my hint to heart and kept her hair all natural for our second shoot.  Funny side note: when Kels was in High School, I was her Young Life leader and we went to Georgia for camp one summer.  While we were waiting to go to club, a few girls were standing behind her and talking about her hair. When Kelsie turned around they asked if they could touch it.  She said, “sure”.  Then this one girl goes, “What is it?” and Kels looked at me like, “Crys, what is she asking?”  and I realized they wanted to know how she got hair like that.  So, Kelsie goes “ohhh, its natural”.  And that girl looks at her friend and says … “Oh, Natural, I need to get me some of that!”  LOL.

They apparently thought “Natural” was something you could order up at the Beauty Salon.  Priceless.  That story never gets old. So here is Kelsie with her crown of glory :)

img_0041-copyThis image is special because Matt gave Kelsie his grandmothers ring.  They were extremely close and she gave it to Matt just before she passed away.  She told him to give it to his bride and to tell her she’d been praying for her for a long time.  If that doesn’t make you weepy, I dont know what will.  Isn’t is gorgeous?

Something a little different.  I definietly DON’T have the whole sunset thing down, but since sunsets are one of Kelsie’s favorite things I had to at least try.  (Kels, now all we need are dolphins jumping in the water in the background, lol :: wink)

img_0182-copy

At the end I hinted yet again that she should pull her hair back because of the wind.  Secretly, I just love her hair in a pony tail, which she sports on a daily basis.  I guess I got my way … yet again.  Just call me spoiled.  I do love the results.  I wish I looked this beautiful with my hair pulled back.  Instead I look like a half 12 year old half mouse. eww.

img_0219-copy

LOVE both of these.  This black and white is my favorite I think.

Oh, nevermind.  This next one is …

Love you two.  I can’t wait to see you committ your lives to one another.  Seriously, I can’t wait.  But, I am even more excited about our first vacations together ….  hmmm, will Kels and I still get to sleep in our OWN tent?  Maybe we all four can pile in one now.  YES!  [insert double fist pump here]

Chloe Part Deux [dfw senior photographer]

Perfect clothes, beautiful girl, sunset at a favorite location … I could photograph her all. day. long.  Thanks for giving me the chance to take your photos yet again :)   Ellen, it was SO wonderful to finally meet you.    Who would have guessed we would have so much in common??  Ellen is a backpacker and we both figured out we have spent lots of time in the same valley in southwest Colorado.  Although, Ellen is in MUCH better “backpacker” shape than me, which is sad for me to admit and a little ridiculous.

So, here are my favorites.  Here’s to the Weminuche ;)

Oh, I just love this next one.  Natural smile, sun flare, golden light = yummy for me.

chloe_0102-2blogOh, I forgot about this next one.  It’s my favorite favorite.  I think I want to get a model to dress in all 1970s attire so I can take vintage inspired pictures.  Love the windblown hair and that golden light again.  I love my job ;)

Christmas in February!

Today I drove up to the house while the Fed Ex truck was blocking my driveway! I was so excited I nearly tackled the poor guy. For those that don’t think I understand what its like to wait on your pictures, oh how wrong you are :) Rachel takes care of orders and packaging, so my “Christmas” days are few and far between. Here’s why I am so giddy today! Please excuse these snapshots.  The lighting in my home is just terrible.  That is my number one priority *if* we ever move … I need some natural light!!

I LOVE CANVAS. Everyone should buy canvas. Here is a 30×30 of the circle collage I did of Mia Grace’s 2nd birthday pictures.

img_0002

and just so you can see the enormity of it, here is an 11×17 I ordered too.

img_0006

The coolest part about the canvas is the word wrap I did!  Around the edges are all of Mia Grace’s nicknames wrapped perfectly.  It turned out cuter than I could have imagined :)

Here are my nicknames for her.

img_0014and Daddy’s

img_0019and a combo of other ones we’ve given her together …

img_0016img_0020

Maybe I’ll share some pictures of her new big girl room when we finally finish it!  Complete with 30×30 canvas on the wall!!

Oh, and ask us about Canvas at your ordering session and even word wraps so you can get your very own ;)

CourtneyCourtney [Hot Designers]

Some of you may remember my crazy daughter post HERE and her super cute birthday outfit!  I know you remember, because many of you asked me where you could shop for something similar.  I must admit, the selfish side of me didn’t want to share … BUT that side lost bigtime because these clothes are just TOO awesome to not share!  There is nothing better than finding other entrepeneur moms out there who love what they do as much as I do.  We just couldn’t get enough of Courtney’s designs, so we teamed up!  I think Mia Grace likes this partnership because she actually likes photoshoots in Courtney’s designs.  Courtney Chu is the artist behind CourtneyCourtney , one of kind wearable outfits for kids.  They are funky, bright, fun, unique and SO comfortable AND they do up so well after washing.  If you are like me and have a hard time finding wearable clothes that fit your child’s personality, you really need to head on over to courtneycourtney’s website like, NOW.  They are affordable too, which is the best part.

I really can’t say enough about her designs … and her customer service rocks too.  She is already making a name for herself with the title “Cool Mom’s Pick of the YEAR”.

Below, Mia Grace is modeling her recycled t-shirt tunic, (in two unique one-of-a-kind desigsn) which looks super cute with jeans or even stockings and boots.  The crazy daughter post, she was wearing a the t-shirt “twirl” style.  Stay tuned for more styles from CourtneyCourtney. And when you go get your own, make sure to tell her who sent you!

TOGETHER we can make a DIFFERENCE. [Sierra Leone, Africa]

For those that missed our BIG announcement, you can check it out HERE. Love, Me is headed to Sierra Leone, Africa to love on and serve 84 Orphans at the Wellington Orphanage near Freetown, one of the most violent and poorest cities in the world.  The war there has destroyed much more than the political infrastructure or deemed Sierra Leone the title of the “poorest country in the world” … it as completely ravaged the souls of its people.  Many of those souls are the littlest and most vulnerable among us. Children.  These children have been left fatherless, motherless, and often the only survivors out of what was once a large family, many of them witnessing the brutal massacres of their loved ones first hand.  Without any place to go, these orphans rely on places like the Wellington Orphanage, to take them in and not only meet their physical needs, but to attempt to restore some resemblance of hope in their hearts through the redemptive power of God’s love.  It is with a humble heart and great privilege that Rachel and I get to travel to Sierra Leone this March to love on and serve these children, but to also carry out our Photographic Calendar Project to raise money to support these 84 beautiful kids.

Below is a sideshow created by the founder of The World Should Know, Chris Shabay.  I had the amazing opportunity to photograph the Shabay’s before the holidays.  Chris and Wendy adopted Isaac from Liberia, after Sierra Leone closed down adoption while they were trying to bring home, Samuel, their other son.  This process spawned what is now The World Should Know and I am so grateful to be a part of something so much bigger than myself.  So, I ask you to join hands with Rachel and myself, with Chris and his family, and with The World Should Know … because together, we truly can make a difference.

If you want specifics or want to be included in our newsletter about this entire journey, or want to travel to Sierra Leone yourself! please leave a comment filing in your email address.  Just in the last year alone, a well has been dug to provide clean water to these orphans, helping to fight against malaria and other various diseases.  Chris was able to raise money to provide a Thanksgiving dinner for the kids.  They eat only rice twice a day and for many it was their first time ever having real food or protein of any kind.  Those are just a few of the small miracles that can happen when people like you and me give of ourselves.  A little multiplied by a lot = change.  Please submit your tax free donation by clicking on the donate button below!  Stay tuned for more information about our journey and pass along this link to those that want to make a difference!

the cokers. [dfw family photographer]

Meet Wani, David, Kendall, Masen, and Hayden.  These girls are as cute as their names!  I had such a great time during their session yesterday.  It was so laid back and just easy.  I was warned beforehand that little Hayden had a mind of her own, but would you believe she was absolutely perfect!  Now, why can’t I have that same effect on my own daughter.  David is seriously one lucky guy.  His girls are just gorgeous and have the sweetest spirits.  This is the kind of family I could hang out with and photograph ALL DAY … but luckily for you David, you already had plans.  Oh, and don’t you all think he scored major brownie points by agreeing to shoot during the Super Bowl!

Here are my favorites from their shoot.  I MADE myself cut back on the sharing … otherwise there will be no surprises.  I could have shared about 10 more easily from their session.

Oh, and dont ask me how I get the most beautiful families ever!!! It’s a secret.  Just kidding … I’m just blessed that way.

coker_0051blogcoker_0065blogHaydencoker_0107blogMasen : the coolest name EVER.  I love it!  We are planning to name our next one if its a boy (Mason) and this is the first time I’ve heard it used for a girl and I am really in love.  I may have to ask Miss Masen for permission to use her name if we have another girl … I will be thinking of really great bribery gifts!

coker_0306blogat the end I snapped a few of Hayden and her “lovie”.  Apparently, the last time they had family photos, “blue” made it in all the pics :)   She just lit up when she snuggled him.  It was the cutest thing.

coker_0500blogThank you Wani for rockin outfits!  I LOVE color and I love how you all went together without matching!!  Perfect.  It was a pleasure meeting you and I hope you enjoy your teasers …
