lately.

Lately, I’ve been spending the majority of my days with this litte lady.  She is out of school for the summer and my wonderful mother-in-law who will be watching her for me is still in school (she’s a diagnostician) for a little over a week, which means, I have less time to work and more time to spend with a crazy-haired, no clothes wearin’, big brown-eyed girl. What a shame huh? In the meantime, we have precisely 10 days to make the little mermaid underdonks she’s wearing, that you can’t see, a permanent staple around our household :)

The extra time also means that I finally found absolutely fantastic light in my dungeon of a house ::jumps up and down uncontrollably::

This, folks, is what you call straight out of the camera, sharpened for web greatness … in my uber-exciting life anyway, lol.

boys will be boys. [dallas/ fort worth family photographer]

There is SO much I want to say about this family and this session, but we are running out the door for church and I just can’t wait to share these anymore.  I loved everything about this session and literally shot over double what I normally do … which means, I had to stop myself from editing any more.  There are SO many to choose from.  Kelley, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

Maybe I’ll have to post a couple more tonight so I can say everything I wanted to say about your fun family!!

ETA (edited to add)  Ok, I just had to come back on here and tell you how fun this family session was for me.  I have missed my family shoots lately and this made me realize once again why I do what I do.  Lots of photographers aren’t into family shoots, but they are my very favorite. It is such a challenge for me to capture the essence of an entire family and I really hope that you can catch a glimpse of who they are individually and to each other.  That’s my goal every single time.  Kelley and Kevin, it was great to meet you and I must say, I honestly fell in love with your little boys.  I’ve been telling Mike for a while that I was so content with just my little girl, but after your shoot, I am praying we have a little boy (and I want them to be 4 1/2 years apart :) ).

Meet Kaden and Kamden.  I am not kidding when I say that there are literally dozens of great shots of each of these guys!  I may have to share more later.  Right away it was clear that Kaden was the “cool kid” in a great way.  He was so polite and respectable. Everything was “yes mam’ “, easy to talk to, laid back.  Really, I wonderful young man. Then there was little brother Kamden. Oh my Lord, if you dont fall in love with this boy something is wrong with you. He was hysterical and full of life.

Kelley and Kevin … you were great too, but I want to steal your boys!

untitled-1

I went home from this session wanting Mia Grace to have a little sibling 4-5 years younger than her.  Kaden and Kamden just seemed like the perfect number of years apart.  How cute are they?

This was taken before “hippo” took up residency in my shoot sac.  Then, he nearly got ran over on the highway … and ME for that matter!

This is one of my new favorite family images.  So much joy in this picture.  I just love it!

roberts_0238sepia

I can’t tell you how impressed with big brother Kaden I was … as the oldest I was such an antagonizer. Kaden was so patient with Kamden and all his silly jokes and faces and entertaining.  Kaden, your making me look bad buddy … I thought all older siblings were supposed to antagonize their little brothers!

Little brother looking up to big brother.  Sweet sweet moment.  love it!

roberts_0399bw

After our normal shoot we headed to the baseball fields to get a few of Kaden in his gear and Kamden with his batman t-shirt.  During the session he told me all about his “dudes” which reside in a backpack with a million other “dudes”.  I got a quick lesson on every super hero that has ever lived.  He is hysterical!

I promise to share more later. After looking at these, they dont even skim the top of other great ones in the batch!

Thanks you Roberts family for an awesome session!

Linkyn and Jadyn [dallas/ fort worth newborn and child photographer]

I had the pleasure of meeting the newest edition to the Fuller family yesterday.  Baby Linkyn is only 6 days old here and came 4 weeks early much to his mommy and daddy’s surprise.  He was seriously the easiest newborn I’ve ever photographed.  He was completely knocked out the whole time and just let me move and mold him however I wanted!  Such a sweet little boy and I know his family is so excited to have him as the newest edition to the family.  While most of the family is thrilled with his presence, big sister Jadyn is still assessing the situation :)   Getting the two of them together in a photo was a challenge I could not overcome, but I still got some really fun images of each of them separately.  Jadyn is the cutest little thing ever!  You can tell she is loved deeply by her big family.  It’s no wonder she isn’t so sure about the new guy in town.  They live on the lake, so it was perfect to capture her in her own element.  I just love the images of her so much.  18 months is typically a really difficult age to photograph, but she was such a little star and starring at her sweet face today was really a treat!

I am just thankful I wasn’t put in the stinky baby brother category … yesterday at least :)

Meet baby Linkyn. (isn’t that the coolest name?!)

Love all his blonde little hair (on his body and his head :) )

Doesn’t she have the sweetest little face?!

fuller_0174bw

When she holds her blankies or any super soft fabric, she makes this cute little monotone groan as she cuddles it.  At first, I was looking all around trying to figure out where the noise was coming from when her mom informed me that she has made that same noise from a very early age. It is so cute and pretty hysterical.  I hope this image reminds her whole family of that sweet “Jadyn noise” as she grows out of it.  Look at those gorgeous blue eyes!

I snapped this picture right before I left and its one of my very favorites.  I just want to eat her up!

ashleigh [dfw senior photographer]

LOVED Ashleigh, and her session.  She is incredibly smart and sweet and just a fun, laid back kind of girl.  I love the whole “effortless beauty” she has going on … with her ridiculously gorgeous wavy hair, naturally beautiful smile … not to mention her bohemian barefoot swagger.  I seriously wore her out as I just kept shooting and shooting.  When I got in my car I was utterly exhuasted. Not to mention I had what looked like poison ivy all over my legs.  For anyone that thinks being a photographer requires no physical labor … think again.  I must say, it was SO worth it. I just love love her images. From the few times I’ve met Ashleigh, they just really seem to capture what she is all about.

Here are the favorites (there are like 20 more, but I knew I couldn’t share them all! :) )

aaron. [argyle senior photographer]

I am back!  Yes, I am still alive.  My sincerest apologies to all my clients. If you are waiting on your pictures, your order, or you called to book a session, please know that we are working hard to get caught up.  I spent my week at photography school and I had NO idea what to expect.  They literally dictated my every minute of every day for the week with little time for breaks, or even sleep for that matter. It was SO worth it in the end and hopefully all you patient clients will reap the benefits of the incredible things I learned this week.

Now, back to Aaron.  I’ve been dying to share his photos but didn’t get a chance to blog like I had anticipated.  I just loved his session. Especially the end.  I love when we try something new that reflects the person I’m photographing because, in my opinion, that’s when the magic happens.  Aaron is one awesome kid with great parents!  It was great meeting you all, and I look forward to showing you all of Aaron’s portraits.  Good luck choosing … maybe next time you should try having a not so good-looking kid :)

Here are a few favorites.

natalee & trevor [dallas engagement photographer]

I love this girl. Natalee was Kelsie’s best friend in high school.  She was the popular, spunky red-head who didn’t know a stranger and could put a smile on anyone’s face.  I was lucky enough to be their young life leader for a year or two, where I got to know Miss Natalee and grow to love her so much!  I couldn’t be more excited for you, Natalee.  I must say, I didn’t know what to expect with this “cowboy” fiance she has, but leaving the session, I was even more excited.  He was so go with the flow and just so sweet to her.  It really melted my heart.  What a perfect pair you two are!  Trevor, it was awesome meeting you and I had such a great time at our session.  Watch out for those Indians! ;)

Seriously, I love the laid back feel to this session.  More than anything, especially with engagement sessions, I want to really capture the connection between two people and for my work to reflect “who they are!”  I really dont ever want any session to be a cookie-cutter type session just with different faces.  I hope you can see  how fun-loving and laid back these two are and how they so don’t take themselves too seriously.  LOVED that about yall!  I’d also be willing to bet they have many many more years of laughing til it hurts moments …

Here are the favorites.

Beautiful Isabella. [newborn video]

So, I met up with Jayme and Grant (and Gina!) to show them all their photos and when I popped in the DVD it was NOT sweet Isabella. I am still so confused as to how it even happened because I had literally sat in front of my computer 15 minutes before going to their house and re-watched Isabella’s video to make SURE I had grabbed the right one.  Well, I was embarrassed to say the very least, but thank goodness we were able to watch it on their home computer. Needless to say, moving into a studio just jumped up a couple of notches on my things to do list!

Oh, the life of a busy photographer …

Here are all the images from their session. Oh, what a sweet sweet baby she is, and how lucky I am to have been given the opportunity to photograph her ::sigh:: …
