So much to say about this guy and his family! The Solleys came into my life several years ago when I still took family portraits. Back then, I fell in love with their welcoming spirit, and when they called to book Grant’s senior portraits, I was super excited to get to spend time with them again and see the young man that Grant has become.

Conversations with the Solleys always leave me feeling like I’m catching up with old college friends, and every time, it’s so bizarre to me that they don’t really know my family. It’s no surprise that Grant has become just a dream of a young man—so polite, such resolve, and so much knowledge about exactly who HE is. He’s unashamed of his faith yet not overbearing about it either. It’s just who he is. I think it’s such a unique quality to find in a young man, and it’s so refreshing. I really love that we got to incorporate this in his session.

From reading through his questionnaires (and his mom mentioning that he’s always in a backwards cap), I just had this vision of him in his driveway with a ball and a Bible. I’m really pleased with how those photos turned out, and I feel like they capture who he is in an authentic way. I will say that he also looked mighty dapper in his bowtie, and I love that he was willing to go along when we had him become Superman. His Dad calls him his hero (tears), and his family has a picture they love of him as a young toddler in his Superman costume. They wanted to capture that play on words because it meant something to their family. That’s what I’m talking about—a young man willing to just go with it for his folks and embrace how they view him. I know Grant will succeed in whatever journey he takes and I’m thankful that through social media, I have the opportunity to be a witness.
