It was pretty much love at first sight when I met Ellie and her mom, Jenni, at our initial consultation. One of the things that captured my attention right off the bat was that, like so many of my Love, Me clients, Ellie and Jenni share such a sweet mother-daughter relationship; the special bond between them is just so evident. Being a momma to two young girls myself, this is something I always notice and aspire to nurture.
As Ellie and I got to know one another better during our consult, we quickly realized that we had so many connections and things in common—one of the biggest being that she is a “just” Ellie, the same as my daughter Ellie! Also, the fact that we happen to live on the same street. What?? Yep…their home is located on the opposite end of the street, but we had never met. Hello serendipity!
So, at first glance, it’s obvious that Ellie is simply gorgeous. But she is also kind, laid back, AND she plays basketball! She’s the first basketball player I’ve had in a long time (which seems impossible given that I spend an average of 15 hours every week coaching the sport!) and we really connected over our love for the game. We also share a love for fashion! I adored her clothing selections for her shoot and thought they were absolutely perfect for the location we chose. One of my favorite art installations at this particular locale had recently changed and it was literally the ideal backdrop for what she was wearing.
Our time together during our session in Dallas was so special for me. I felt more like I was hanging out with good friends than working. I often drive home overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of being able to photograph such amazing young people. Ellie was no exception. In fact, I might have brainstormed opportunities to see Ellie and her mom again in the future…perhaps another LMP backpacking expedition is in store?
By the way, Jenni and her sister-in-law run a well-known ACT prep course called Boost my ACT and this SIL just happens to have a connection to our family, too. Her son and my older daughter, Mia Grace, have been tearing up the fast lane for a local swim team for the last few years! Like I said, small world with sweet connections. These experiences help to ground me and show me that I’m not nearly as disconnected as I sometimes feel. They also serve to remind me how much I love hanging and working with clients who are such amazing, friendly extroverts!
Thank you Ellie and Jenni for such a wonderful day and for choosing Love, Me Photography to capture this senior year milestone. And, trust me, I’ll be thinking of more reasons to reconnect. Here’s hoping it happens sooner rather than later!
