Coös County Family Health Services

Due to the recent increase in Covid-19 in our area, and for the safety of our patients, we are making the following changes effective Tuesday, October 19th.

Pre-Visit Instructions:

  • If you have a phone visit, the provider will be calling you directly. Please make sure that your phone number is up-to-date with us.
  • If you have a telehealth/video call, you will receive a link via text message or e-mail for your appointment.
  • If you have an onsite-office appointment, please remain in your car and call once you have arrived prior to entering the building. You must wear a mask to enter the building.
  • If you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms and have an onsite office visit, please call so we can change your appointment type.

While how we provide your care may look a little different in the coming weeks, our offices are open and our staff is available to care for you and your family. Here are the changes we are making:

  1. For the remainder of this month (October), most office appointments will occur remotely by either phone or video. We will contact patients with scheduled appointments to confirm how your visit will take place. Non-urgent visits may be rescheduled until Covid-19 lessens.
  2. Appointments involving children will be handled on a case by case basis. Please don't hesitate to call with your questions. We'll work with you to find the best option for you and your child.
  3. Covid-19 vaccine and testing clinics will continue as currently scheduled.
  4. All of our clinics will remain open during this period, including our weekend clinics at AVH/Page Hill.
  5. Should you need help, call us at 752-2040 (Pleasant St.), 466-2741 (Gorham), or 752-2900 (Page Hill).
  6. Our dental clinic will also remain open to care for those with dental emergencies (752-2424).
  7. Our Response program offices will also remain open. Staff are available by phone in Berlin (752-5679), Colebrook (237-5384), or Lancaster (788-8195).

Pediatrics: Despite the high level of Covid-19 in our community, we remain dedicated to the health of your child. Recognizing the importance of well-child visits & immunizations we will continue to see most children & youth in person. We will also continue to provide acute care to sick children in our outdoor "trailer" exam rooms daily. Please call us to check on the status of your child's visit.

We hope to return to normal operations by the end of October, and will keep everyone informed should additional changes occur. In the meantime, don't hesitate to call with your questions.

COVID-19 Services

We Can See You Now

In an effort to provide the best possible care to our patients, as well as protect patients and staff from unnecessary exposure, we are asking that everyone call the clinic first. This clinic will be staffed by a trained medical provider and a clinical team to help assist you with any questions and concerns you may have.

If you are experiencing symptoms or have questions about exposure to the virus, we ask that you first call your local provider’s office at 603-752-2040 for Pleasant St. or 603-752-2900 for Page Hill or 603-466-2741 for Gorham and speak with our triage nurse. The nurse will be available Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm to answer questions and assist you with scheduling an appointment, if necessary.

Congratulations to Dr. Brian Beals, an NHCT Board member, for being named Pediatrician of the Year by the NH Pediatric Society!

Dr. Beals has lived in the Berlin-Gorham area for the past 25 years, currently practicing at Coos County Family Health Services and as the pediatric medical director at nearby Androscoggin Valley Hospital. Despite the physical distance between pediatric subspecialty services, Brian has developed several niche areas to enhance his practice in a region that historically has been underserved.

Dr. Beals is a provider, teacher, and advocate for both children and other professionals in his field. He remains a valued resource in his community and goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care in the North Country region. Congratulations, Dr. Beals! We are so honored to celebrate you and your achievements!

Each year the New Hampshire Pediatrician of the Year award is presented by the New Hampshire Pediatric Society to an outstanding doctor who contributes to the improvement of child health care in New Hampshire and the United States.

Meeting A Community's Dental Needs

“Photo by Cheryl Senter, courtesy of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.”

Coös Family Dental, on Berlin's Main Street, is open to anyone in the community who needs
care. The clinic is filling a need that is particularly acute in the North Country, where more than two in ten adults have not seen a dentist in the past five years, and very few dental practices are accepting new Medicaid patients.
