On the day of Rachel’s senior session her mom, Carol, was busy doing what all of us moms do…balancing her children’s schedules. This particular day she was supporting her other two daughters in a volleyball tournament which meant I scored some solo time with Rachel. It was great because—while I love having moms present—there is sometimes a special freedom and connection that happens when I’m with a client one-on-one. This was one of those times and it made my session with Rachel extra special. I place so much value on meaningful conversations and connecting with people on an individual basis, as I had the opportunity to do with her. Lucky for me, I had previously met her mom when I photographed her other two daughters earlier this year. Plus we got to take some fantastic family portraits together!
As you can probably tell right away from her images, Rachel is extremely photogenic. She has all the model-type qualities that make a photographer excited: big eyes, perfect eyebrows, high cheekbones. She also did her own hair and makeup which played up her looks beautifully. I usually don’t recommend a client doing this, but Rachel knocked it out of the park! It’s worth noting that Rachel was more reserved in her session than some of my other seniors (which as a natural introvert, I totally get). I only say this because I don’t want any potential clients out there to think you have to be super comfortable in front of the camera in order to take beautiful portraits. I love Rachel’s images SO much and I was thrilled to hear how happy she was with them too, especially knowing she is very particular about pictures of herself.
It was a joy meeting you Rachel. You are simply beautiful.
