What a way to begin the 2020 senior portrait season. You guys—the first class of seniors I photographed graduated in 2009 (insert that emoji with the big eyes here). That’s 12 years of seniors! My first seniors have already had their 10-year reunions. They’ve experienced so many milestones by now. Although this realization is wonderful, I have to admit it’s also a little depressing—time just never pauses. Alllll the feels aside, it’s been so rewarding to capture these seniors as they embark on a new chapter. I made the decision to photograph senior portraits exclusively in 2015, and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made!
Oh Xandi! This girl just exudes joy, joy, and more joy. It’s evident that she’s so full of life and up for any adventure. Even though Xandi’s not a dancer (she’s a swimmer), her twirling pictures are some of my all-time favorites.
We decided to end this shoot at one of my favorite spots by the lake. When we arrived, the area was unexpectedly taken over by stand-up paddleboarders! Despite the stress and surprise, we were able to stay creative. We used the paddleboarders to our advantage—the path that they cleared leading to the water gave us the perfect vantage point for a beautiful, green background.
I’m so glad Xandi’s mom, Kristina, contacted me. This shoot was so fun, and I look forward to seeing this girl spread that joy wherever she goes!
